Dr. Kunal Korgaonkar
Lead of Confluences of Computing Lab and Assistant Professor at BITS-Goa

Dr. Kunal Korgaonkar currently leads the “Confluences of Computing” Lab at BITS Pilani, Goa Campus where he is also an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Information Systems Department. The overarching goal of his “Confluences of Computing” Lab is in building computer systems and redefining human lives, right from atomic all the way to planetary scale. Before joining BITS, Dr. Kunal was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Technion at Israel, has completed his Doctorate from University of California San Diego, and his Masters (By Research) from IIT Madras, India. Besides academia he has worked extensively in industry in both product development and research roles. Notably he has contributed to several impactful projects while at Intel Labs. Dr. Kunal has been honored with several scholarships and fellowships, such as Semiconductor Research Corporation Fellowship in US, Lady Davis Postdoctoral Fellowship in Israel and IITM-Intel Joint MS Fellowship Award. Most recently, he has been awarded the OPERA fellowship at BITS for showing outstanding potential for research and academics. Dr. Kunal’s research work has been published in top computer architecture and systems venues such as ISCA, PODC, ICDCN, etc. A big focus of his work is on exploring and unearthing novel computing and programming paradigms connecting end-application needs with capabilities of emerging systems and technologies (such as, computer architecture, cyber-physical systems, quantum technologies, etc.). Dr. Kunal is currently a PI for several funded projects from industry and government labs on emerging systems and technologies. Further, in terms of service to the community, Dr. Kunal is an active reviewer for several conferences and is also in the organizing team of top-ranked conferences.
